Clean-licked ears, slicing sharply
Tuesday I took a jazz class from my younger sister Kassandra, who returns to Point Park (the Pittsburgh powerhouse arts feeder university) this fall for her final year before auditioning for professional dance companies and casts. I’m still sore. My energies are perhaps better spent working on her new site, kassandrataylor.com, which launches with a Wordpress blog entry about her summer travels. Pictured here entering the subway, she reminds me of her favorite piece from this season’s City Ballet Diamond Project, Jorma Elo’s “Slice to Sharp,” a meditation on concentrating movement that begins not with still, small quiet, but in the process of coupling energy with direction.

Have a safe trip to Santa Cruz! I’ll miss you. I expect a full report of all travel woes and wonders.
