Mica, I believe you are in the air on your way back as I write this---so perhaps we can make Keiko's beautiful vanilla-poached white peach tart and a traditional tarte tatin when you are in Charlottesville or you come visit me in Alexandria---

I can barely contain my jealousy of your raw milk cheese adventures; there are some cheesemakers near Charlottesville we could visit, though...

I love your photos from the market! A trip to Paris to go market hunting is definitely necessary!

I went to Normandy, to the home of real, raw-milk, AOC certified Camembert. It was delicious, if not terribly adventurous.

I love that you have a picture cooking with the Miss Piggy wig AND I love the poofed hair.

Do you happen to have a recipe for tarte tatin? I have decided to make it my ambitious August mission to make one as good as the ones here.

Also, I sent Prof. Golumbia a postcard, and he wrote back an e-mail in French...using Google Translator. Aha!

Dana's cartwheel far surpassed mine, but I'll work on it out back on these warm summer nights--after a few glasses of wine. And then we'll stage a competition complete with pictures, prizes and fried chicken. Who needs Rodeo Drive?

i think i gained 20 pounds reading your blog (my food intake works via visual osmosis -- it interpolates the calories). how you stay thin with all this food around is an insane mystery.

ps - light pollution here is the worst. it always saddens me. i rarely, if ever, can see stars.. even in the outlying desert.

pss - are these plants and vegetables all earth species? i think i notice some cabbage from jupiter.

psss - nice wasp with a gas mask. best one i've seen yet.

Steve, I'm not sure I would wait 45 minutes (ordering a frosting shot was fun, though).

Morgan, thanks, I have finally cut the hair, but look for similar spikiness in a few weeks---

And, Jane fans, we've been blogged by Susan Young here; and, oh, the places Jane has yet to go---

My goodness but you enjoy an eventful existence. I like the way you're wearing your (real) hair in these pics.

I'd also like to proudly note that my patriotic shirt celebrates a 3/4 English band with a Spanish phrase. Proud because that actually passes for patriotic amongst my peer group, as it should.

Wow, what a comprehensive post! Thanks for the shout out, btw! Good choice making sure not to miss Sprinkles, although the lines there are sometimes 30-45 minutes long...
