kthread spins: the monster mash

A new podcast to vanquish the vague, unsettled feeling many of us have in this moment. Song list below—some fanciful, others subtly subversive, I’ve ordered these to work through whispers that have echoed in nearby chambers in recent days.

A note of caution: this is darker fare toward the end than usual for kthread.

My more delicate readers (lovely to see you, as always) may want to pass over this entry and return tomorrow, when we will have words on my favorite novel of Virginia Woolf (who we are not afraid of here).

And now, an hour with things that will only go bump in the night if we let them—

“Magic Morning” – Monsters at Work

“Happy Up Here” – Röyksopp

“Danger!” – The Sound of Arrows

“Skin Deep” – The Stranglers

“Golden Cage” – Whitest Boy Alive

“Lion” – ZZZ (Bag Raiders remix)

“Droppin’” – Soft (Daytrotter session)

“M.A.G.I.C.” – The Sound of Arrows (Lets Get Invisible Remix)

“All is Swell Lummertmix” – Oliver North Boy Choir

“Mutha’uckas” – Flight of the Conchords

“Mama Told Me Not to Come” – The Wolfgang Press

“Send in the Clouds” – The Silver Jews

“Ain’t No Rest for the Wicked” – Cage the Elephant

“Ghosting” – Mother Mother

“Keep Yourself Warm” – Frightened Rabbit

hmmm…vague and unsettled. exactly. maybe it’s a january thing?

you know what isn’t vague and unsettling…corn muffins, toasted and slathered with butter and honey. those are pretty direct and comforting. so, see you tomorrow morning for a muffin and some goldfin family ridiculousness :)

Corn muffins are the way to welcome February in—so glad you introduced me to their unambiguous comfort, J; looking forward to the morning family outing :)
