a Kinder Bueno tunnel run

Nora, Chris (designer of a truly historic shirt. Yes, it has a unicorn), and I took off for the tunnels of Crystal City (underneath PBS) yesterday afternoon in search of candy from lands far away:

Continuing the week’s theme of moving with alacrity (I raced Andrew down the DrupalCon stairs to lunch Thursday. He won), Nora ran with me through the Market Basket. I find her response to finding the Kinder Bueno perfect:

What if shopping for food in indoor stores was as exciting as outdoor markets?

I blogged about this and my love for the Supermarket Sweep game show last year for PBS’s Remotely Connected blog series on the Pioneers of Television, and I’m still thinking about how deserted stores with wide aisles are the perfect setting for food adventurers.

And today I found not only Kinder Bueno bars, but also Kinder “Happy Hippo” candies that I think might lead to an Aretha dance sequence like the product’s cheerful animated commercials; we’ll find out later today…

One of my friends here received an obscene amount of Kinderbueno for Valentine’s Day from her French boyfriend. I doubt he ran to get them.

However, I wholeheartedly support your run in the tunnels for Kinderbueno. I might secretly stash a pack at the end of the half marathon course and use it as incentive to finish, ho ho!

That sounds like an excellent friendship to cultivate, Mica. Good luck in the race; you should do the Kinder Happy Hippo dance at the end to celebrate! :)
