adventures in brisket

You may think you understand brisket. Or even Texas barbecue. (Note: this post may offend my wonderful vegetarian and vegan readers; please do return for the next post about piƱatas.)

Saturday afternoon, Laura and I went to Michael’s house party where we were schooled in barbecue theory (below, Michael and Laura):

Amidst talk of local bands (musicians were in the mix) and choruses of Happy Pi Day:

there was slicing of the brisket, and Tom explained the dissolution,

and fielded questions about how he does barbecue (you need to hear this).

I can’t imagine a better Saturday afternoon in Austin feeling very much a part of the local scene…

My brief (and pathetic) stint with vegetarianism was riddled with regret that I couldn’t eat barbecue. This post confirmed that brisket is one of the best meals on Earth. Vegetarianism: 0, Brisket: 1.

Mica, the tally holds. The tally holds.
