and dessert will be simple

My friend Solana is coming over for dinner tonight, and I walked the Union Square Greenmarket this morning, talking with the lovely people at Evolutionary Organics who like my bright dresses as much as I like their lettuces.

With squash blossoms from Evolutionary (along with lettuce), ears of corn, chantrelles, baby leeks—what would you make?

And as I wandered, I found ripe peaches for dessert—summer fruit needs no improvement, so we’ll likely eat these outside on the stoop, listening to the Brooklyn sounds…

That’s a really great picture of some gorgeous peaches! I am always impressed that you manage to make food look so beautiful AND enticing at the same time. I’m not a huge fan of the highbrow trend of tiny stacks of food. In my humblest of culinary opinions, food should always be prepared, photographed, and enjoyed à la kthread. :)

Oh, Mica, (thank you!) I do think the two are related (plating makes a difference). These peaches are so good; I’m reminded of when Ben and I procured a bushel one July, and ate almost all of them :)

I usually want to play Jenga with those little stacks in restaurants—it is so nice to have all sorts of things in season right now to play with…
