Mica, I may send you a few crosnes in a package---I think they'd make it to Chicago intact.

It's always a good occasion to make mashed potatoes with homemade buttery things (and the nice part is the buttermilk is made when the butter is). Hope you had a great holiday---

Fantastic Thanksgiving! The bumpy tubers are adorable!

My Thanksgiving celebrations (both!) were sadly lacking in mashed potatoes with homemade butter and buttermilk. I admire your handiwork!

Emily, thank you, and that's so exciting on the FCI class and being able to see you in the city. I am planning a Meat Hook expedition soon (and sooner now, with your recommendation) and hope your holiday was wonderful---

Melissa, those are Romanesco cauliflower and they truly are fractals. You can find them at farmers' markets around now; they are one of my favorite vegetables.

What is the first picture? Looks like cauliflowers but I've never seen anything so funky (looks like a Burmese temple). If you could send me the name, I'd appreciate it.

Thank you, John. I am wondering about these particular quince---I think they should be more portly, as fruit go. You may be able to find quince, quarter and boil them for an hour or so, then stir in honey to make the paste; they have high levels of pectin. One of my favorite food bloggers, Shuna, has a great quince post with more.

Hope your Thanksgiving was full of wonderful wines (somehow I feel sure it was) and food---

What a lovely Thanksgiving spread. And I'm so happy to run into quince again (I had it for the first time the past week). We had quince paste with some Spanish cheeses at a wine tasting (and rosemary roasted almonds). The chef wouldn't divulge the recipe but hinted that it was mostly fruit and honey. Anyway, I hope you had a wonderful holiday.

Galen, you've made my day. Thank you. I will see if anyone has pictures of my turkey outfit :) Hope your family had a wonderful Thanksgiving (and I'm excited to come try the new Mas Farmhouse winter menu soon)--
