For the second summer, , in partnership with the University of Virginia‘s Department of Media Studies, will offer MDST 383: Web Design and Production Studio in the first summer session, 15 May – 10 June MTWTF 10:30-12:45.

This advanced seminar assumes knowledge of HTML and some knowledge of XHTML and CSS; projects will emphasize the practical application of design theory.

Course will include:

  • Flash
  • Photoshop
  • Illustrator
  • PHP
  • DOM, CSS, XHTML

Students will modify and maintain a class WordPress blog, storyboard and implement short Flash animations, learn Dreamweaver (only for purposes of client delivery), and work collaboratively to redesign existing sites.

Open to students, faculty, and staff. Course limit: 20 students

Instructor’s Note: This project series is composed of neither that Dreamweaver site you built in high school nor the HTML you cobbled together at 14; this is an intensive web language institute of sorts that begins a design portfolio; as such, class requires commitment to morning class meetings and project work completed outside of class time.
